SubShifter - Help

Instructions

Use SubShifter to correct the times in your subtitle files. There are two tools that you can use: the Shift tool and the Linear compensation tool. The first is simpler, while the latter is more powerful.

Shift tool

  1. Select the original subtitle file with the "Browse..." button.
  2. Enter the desired time shift in the "Time shift" field.
    • If the subtitles are late, use a negative time shift.
    • If the subtitles are ahead of the movie, use a positive time shift.
    • For instance, if the subtitles are 4.5 seconds late, enter "-4.5".
  3. Press the "Resync!" button, and wait for a couple of seconds.
    • The time shifted version of the subtitle file will be downloaded to your computer. Just select where you want to save it.

Linear compensation tool

  1. Select the original subtitle file with the "Browse..." button.
  2. Enter two pairs of time stamps in the "Time #1" and "Time #2" fields.
    • The first column ("Old time") is the un-corrected time when a subtitle appears.
    • The second column ("Correct time") is the correct time when the subtitle should appear.
    • For the first time ("Time #1"), use a subtitle that appears early in the video.
    • For the second time ("Time #2"), use a subtitle that appears late in the video.
  3. Press the "Resync!" button, and wait for a couple of seconds.
    • The time shifted version of the subtitle file will be downloaded to your computer. Just select where you want to save it.
